Crossroads of Historic Higley

In Celebration of Higley’s Centennial, the San Tan Historical Society proudly presents

the 2009-2010 Community History Project Crossroads of Historic Higley

An Oral History Project/Narrated Driving Tour of the San Tan Mountain Communities

Crossroads of Historic Higley is a project which will collect oral histories, use audio excerpts, combine them with a narrative relating to local history/AZ history, creating a driving tour of local historic treasures in and around the crossroads of the San Tan mountain communities (Southeast Gilbert/Mesa, Queen Creek, Chandler Heights, Combs, San Tan Valley). The tour will be available for a nominal charge at the San Tan Historical Society and local libraries on CD, and free digitally via the Society's website. On October 24th, 2009, the San Tan Historical Society hosted an open house for the public to introduce the project, sign up participants for the oral history portion (ongoing), and learn about the Civic Tourism aspect of the driving tour. The project will conclude with a public presentation October 2010 at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts.

Crossroads of Historic Higley is a community effort, and all are invited to participate and learn as we celebrate Higley's Centennial and look ahead towards Arizona's Centennial Celebration in 2012.
